Bill of Lading (BOL)

Carmack Amendment

Supplier Hub

The Supplier Hub is The Home Depot's centralized portal for its suppliers. It serves as a comprehensive resource for managing various aspects of the supplier-retailer relationship, including product listings, inventory management, order tracking, and accessing tools like Orange Apron Media. The portal streamlines communication and operations between The Home Depot and its suppliers.

Shipper Load and Count (SLC)

A bill-of-lading notation indicating the shipper loaded and counted the freight without carrier verification. It isn't a redflag in itself - restricted dock access, dropped trailers, and high volume all make it routine - but it shifts the burden of proof onto the shipper if a shortage is claimed later. Related notations: SLAC (Shipper Load, Stow and Count, the ocean variant), STC (Said to Contain, where the carrier records declared contents without inspecting), and Joint Count, where shipper and carrier verify together and liability is clearer.

Supplier Quality Excellence Program (SQEP)

A Walmart supplier quality and compliance program designed to evaluate, measure, and improve the quality of inbound shipments. SQEP focuses on areas such as item accuracy, product condition, invoice accuracy, timing, ASN compliance, barcodes and labeling, pallet and packaging requirements, and other Walmart supply chain standards. Non-compliance may result in additional costs or other corrective actions under Walmart's applicable requirements.

SSCC-18

The 18-digit Serial Shipping Container Code that uniquely identifies a pallet or carton and links it to the advance shipping notice, so a receiving DC can scan a label and match it to what the supplier said was coming. A mismatch between the SSCC-18 scanned at receiving and the ASN is one of the most common triggers for a barcode or case-marking compliance chargeback - which is why label-accuracy problems and ASN-accuracy problems are usually the same problem.

Third-Party Logistics (3PL)

An outsourced service provider that handles logistics functions like warehousing, transportation, and fulfillment. While 3PLs offer scalability, suppliers remain responsible for compliance, making coordination with 3PLs critical to avoid deductions from retailers.

Trade Allowance Deduction
